Fashion Week Bags: Prada Spring 2013

Perhaps this is the obvious when talking about something forged by Miuccia Prada, butPrada Spring 2013it was pretty weird. The clothes were a mix of late 1960s Japense geisha which often worked quite well, but hardly anyone watching the live stream noticed them, distracted instead by what they appeared to be (and actually were). , it was confirmed later) leather toe socks paired with almost every shoe look. (And honestly, the shoes would have been controversial even without the weird leather linings.) Surprisingly, the bags were mostly very conventional and quite pretty.

Highlights included a set of petite, feminine evening bags with dainty chains and the same enamel and gemstone embellishments that make up a large part of Prada’s recent jewelery line. They’re the kind of bags women of the ’60s wore to fancy parties, but with that signature Prada irreverent twist: a cartoon leather flower here, aggressive rhinestones there. The collection also contained some interesting totes with an interior structure that created a hobo-like strap, but this time, small and bright they stole the show.
